How Much Does Kitchen Cabinet Installation Cost on Cape Cod?

Kitchen cabinets are usually the biggest line in a kitchen remodel, so it pays to understand the numbers before you start. This guide covers the cost of kitchen cabinets and installation, how custom cabinet pricing compares with stock and semi-custom boxes, and what changes the final quote.

Cabinets are priced by the linear foot of wall they cover. National guides put installed prices in these ranges:

• Stock cabinets: about $100 to $400 per linear foot.
• Semi-custom cabinets: about $150 to $700 per linear foot.
• Custom cabinets: about $500 to $1,200 per linear foot, with high-end kitchens running $13,000 to $30,000 or more.

Labor alone is often quoted at $50 to $300 per linear foot, depending on how much fitting, scribing and trim work the room needs. A straight run of boxes in a new house is quick; an older Cape house with walls that are out of plumb takes more time.

• Wood and finish. Painted maple, white oak and walnut price differently, and a sprayed finish costs more than a stock color.
• Door style. Inset doors take longer to build and hang than full overlay shaker doors.
• Interior fittings. Pull-outs, drawer organizers, appliance garages and lighting add to the box price.
• Ceiling height. Cabinets that run to the ceiling, with stacked uppers and crown, add material and install time.
• The room itself. Uneven floors, soffits, moving plumbing or electrical, and removing old cabinets all show up in the quote.

Stock cabinets come in 3-inch size steps, so the gaps get filled with filler strips. Custom cabinets are built to the room, which is why they cost more and why they fit tighter around windows, sloped ceilings and odd corners. Many homeowners mix the two: custom where it shows (the island, the hood wall, the pantry) and simpler boxes where it does not.

We measure the room, draw the kitchen in 3D so you can see it before anything is built, and then quote the cabinets and the installation together. The cabinets are built in our shop in Mashpee and installed by our own team, so the price you approve covers the whole job.
